Slip knot - A slip knot (or running knot) is one of two different classes of knot. The most common are knots which attach a line to an object and intentionally tighten when tension is applied to the free end of the line.

Oysterman's stopper knot - The Oysterman's stopper knot is a stopper knot tied by making a slip knot in the end of the rope where the standing part pulls the knot out, then place the working end through the loop made by the slip knot. Tighten by pulling on both ends.

Noose - This article is about the simple slip-knot, sometimes known as a noose. For a noose capable of resisting attempts to loosen it, see Hangman's knot.

Rolling hitch - The rolling hitch is a knot used to attach a line to a rod, pole, or other rope in such a way that it will not slip along the object. It can therefore be used to pull along the length of the object rather than at right angles as with most other hitches.
